Kim Tae-yeon (Hangul 김태연; Hanja 金泰妍), known as Taeyeon (pronounced [tɛːjʌn]), was born on March 9, 1989. She is a South Korean singer, known for being the leader of 9-member girl group Girls' Generation (소녀시대), formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. Taeyeon and the other eight members of her group debuted on August 5, 2007. She has since ventured out into DJ-ing and reality-variety shows, along with various solo singles


Taeyeon was born in the city of Jeonju, North Jeolla. Taeyeon, like the rest of her group, was trained in singing and dancing. Sunny was born in United States, and later moved to Kuwait. However, her family then moved back to South Korea because of the Gulf War.
